There are many ways to cool a home these days and one of them that is still largely popular is the mobile air conditioning unit.
This is really the first type of air conditioner that was widely available in the world and many people still prefer to use them over the other systems that are now available. The main reason for this is that they do not require much in the way of installation and can be used in any kind of home or dwelling as long as there is electricity available to the area. These units come in a variety of sizes and can be fitted to suit just about any need, no matter the size of the home that is too be cooled. Of course there are a few downfalls that come with this kind of air conditioning unit but some people choose to ignore this in light of the much lower cost that is involved in the entire process.
Mobile air conditioning units are not the most efficient of the systems that are currently available. They run from a two hundred and twenty volt power source which is massive and is normally reserved for the larger household appliances like a clothes dryer or the water heater. This is one of the reasons why some people choose to not use these units because they can create a serious upswing in the cost of the electricity to the home. Most people will see at least a fifty dollar increase per month when the unit is run on a daily basis, more so if more than one unit is used. Secondly the problem is that the mobile air conditioning units are not capable of cooling more than one room of the house. So in light you will have a single cooled room wherever the unit is located. This can pose a problem for the sleeping in the home if there is no window where the unit can be hung that will be near the sleeping quarters for the residents.
Mobile air conditioning units need to be installed through a window in the home, which is why they are commonly referred to as window air conditioners, something the makers of this product wish would change. There is also the matter of properly supporting the unit. The larger mobile air conditioning units are very heavy, usually in the range of two hundred or more pounds. Most of the unit will hang out of the window which will make it unstable. For this a person will need to make sure that the unit is properly supported all the way to the ground.
